CNES (French Space Agency)

CNES is a public body of industrial and commercial nature (EPIC) ;

The CNES offers other public bodies the space policy of France and its implementation in 5 major strategic areas: Ariane, the Sciences, Observation, Telecommunications and Defence.

Its 2,450 collaborators are divided into four centres of excellence: the Space Centre in Toulouse for the design of orbital systems, the Launch Directorate for the development of launch systems, the Space Centre in Guiana for the implementation of of european launches and its Headquarters for the development of space policy.

CNES was the organizer of the first edition of ActinSpace, in partnership with ESA BIC South France. As such, it headed up the design of edition 2.

It is the decision-maker for the event’s global communication plan, the rules of the competition and the co-ordinator for the preparation of the challenges.  It is also the organizer of the event in France.

ESA (European Space Agency)

ESA now has 20 Member States and its mission is to develop the European space programme and bring it to fruition.

The Agency's projects are designed to maximise our understanding of Earth and its immediate space environment, the solar system and the universe and to develop technologies and satellite services and to promote European industries.

The Technology Transfer Programme Office (TTPO) seeks entrepreneurs with innovative ideas for using space technologies or developing applications, to create new products and services in a non-space environment.

ESA’s Business Incubation Centres (BICs), initiated by ESA's Technology Transfer Programme Office (TTPO), work to inspire entrepreneurs to turn space-connected business ideas into commercial companies, and provide technical expertise and business-development support.

ESA is the guarantor of the Europeanisation of the ActInSpace event.

In particular ESA is responsible for the recruitment and the co-ordination of the national organizers and guarantees above national means (European Prize, means of communication at the central level,...). It relies on ESA BIC Sud France to carry out these actions.
